This is a wonderful memorial to your snazzy dresser. I convert those ties are converted to a pillow. Ties are an ode to time gone by, I don't think my husband owns one anymore. If your loved one did, let me preserve that memory.
I rarely open and split the ties. The only time it happens is in a tiny fill corner where there might be too much bulk. What this means to you is this is a pillow with some nice weight to it. Ties are interfaced, often with horsehair. The final outcome leaving that in is a nice pillow almost like a tapestry.
I lay a base fabric down and start placing the ties. I alternate the pattern, wide end, skinny end. They are edge stitched together using a zigzag or other decorative stitch, with thread that coordinates with the ties.
Lots of cutting and trimming... then its ready for a back panel and zip in the back. The back panel is plain cotton -- usually black.
These items are not priced to reflect the time spent. I do my memory items to honor the loved one.
Each pillow takes about 8 to 10 ties-- like everything else depends on the tie. ... and there will be repeats, as in the samples.
I love customs! We can use less ties and embroidery a sentiment in the space without ties. This is your tribute to your loved one. I want to make it special.

Tell me about osnaburg
I love using osnaburg fabric. Its a natural heavily woven cotton. It has a nice texture that many compare to linen or burlap. Many of my designs are very dense, and it takes the stitches better than a flat fabric. Sometimes there is a random thread that doesn't take the color or bleach.Just like you'd see in linen or burlap. There aren't a lot of them, sometimes we won't see one in a project, other times you'll get one or two. They are super small, visualize a single thread woven in about an inch of the fabric. The fabric may also have a slub, this is not a snag, with a hole as if you snagged a sweater. Nature doesn't create cotton uniformly and most embrace the organic look. Neither are flaws.
